When the summer finally arrives, much to my delight, it also brings with it the unexpected heat waves accompanied by warm gushes of wind and a depressing humidity. However much you may love spending time outside in the hottest of weather, it is vital that you take dehydration into account. While water is important, a delicious coconut milk smoothie can also provide some of what your body requires to stay hydrated.
I’ve put together a list of ingredients for you today to help you prepare a healthy, creamy coconut smoothie that will quench your thirst on the hot summer days to follow. This smoothie will not only serve as a tasty way to hydrate but will also provide properties that repair and protect sun damaged skin.
For this recipe there is a variety of fresh fruit you can use to spruce it up; I have opted to go with pineapple to celebrate a beautiful summer day with my friends and family.
This recipe below makes two large pineapple coconut smoothies. Remember: you can double up, or triple up on the ingredients to accommodate more guests. I use an electric blender to prepare this smoothie recipe.
Prepare the night before and pour into a large freezer friendly container. On a hot day, the frozen smoothie mixture will quickly melt into a slush puppy consistency during the morning. Shake thoroughly and pour into plastic cups or glasses and enjoy.
You can opt for strawberries, cranberries and a red apple for a red theme, and use grapes, cucumber and green apples for a green theme. Have fun making this deliciously soothing, and refreshing smoothie!
