I was really surprised at how delicious this is, because coconut cream doesn't taste like much on its own!
Coconut whipped cream is so much tastier in my opinion compared to regular cream. The banana and coconut cream in the pic made a wonderful breakfast this morning. This was a first for me. I am making this one of my favorite toppings!!
Most of the recipes online for coconut whipped cream use icing sugar as a sweetener, but I prefer to keep it healthy and made mine with Xylitol. It was perfect. Then to top it all off I found an amazing “no churn” chocolate ice cream recipe to make with coconut whipped cream. (recipe below)
I would suggest that you buy an organic brand of coconut cream for the nicest texture and flavor. I also put my coconut cream in the deep freezer for a few minutes to make it nice and firm. This helps if you are using Xylitol, because you need to beat it a little longer for the Xylitol to melt. Don't beat it too long or the cream will turn watery. A hand mixer is best to use for only a few seconds.
Can you whip coconut milk?
Making whipped cream from coconut milk is impossible, the coconut milk will not thicken when whipped, but most coconut milk cans come with a thick layer of coconut cream on top. This cream is the same cream found in coconut cream tins. It can be carefully taken off the top and used as above mentioned.
The Perfect Coconut Puree. This is said to be an oh so delicious coconut cream. This Coconut puree consists of the meat and cream of coconut pureed until silky smooth and then homogenized so that they do not separate. The texture is similar to a soft whipped cream and it is the perfect base for desserts as well as cocktails and mocktails.
