Once you discover how fantastic this oil is, you will want to know how to ingest it in different ways, especially if you do not particularly like the taste of it. Can you eat coconut oil by itself? Yes, it is perfectly alright for you to down a few spoonfuls straight from the jar.
Remember to give your system some time to adjust to the amount of coconut oil needed to improve systemic health.
When buying coconut oil, unrefined virgin coconut oil is best for internal consumption.
In some of my suggestions below, I do mention using coconut cream and butter instead of the actual coconut oil. These have less oil in them, but still, contain the same beneficial fats.

If you are not fond of the taste of coconut oil, this is a great way to disguise it ;-)
Add some melted coconut oil to the smoothie while blending it to mix it without making any lumps.

Protein powder of choice
1 cup almond milk
1 tbsp cocoa nibs
2 pitted dates
1 tbsp coconut oil

Use coconut butter instead of regular butter (full of healthy coconut fat/oil). And you can make your own! It's easy. Get the coconut butter recipe here. With this butter, you can also make coconut candy (recipe is on the same page). The kids love these. So this is a great way to sneak healthy fats into their diets.
They are sugar-free, gluten-free and full of coco-nutty goodness.
If you don't like the flavor, get the odorless coconut oil. Coconut oil is the only oil I use for cooking, frying, and baking. It is the healthiest choice.
1.5 cup desiccated coconut
¼ cup coconut oil
A hand full of sunflower seeds
2 - 3 tbsp of cocoa powder
2 - 3 tbsp of honey
Mix all the ingredients. Press them down into a dish and freeze for 5 minutes. Take out and cut into blocks. Freeze again until you eat them.
8 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
1 cup cocoa powder
6 teaspoons Liquid Stevia
Mix and voila!
A good amount would be between 2 - 4 tablespoons daily, these could be taken in the form of any of the above or just eaten clean off a spoon. Start off slowly and then add more and more as your digestive system becomes accustomed to it. How much coconut oil, is too much? It depends on how much your body can handle.
You might find that you have loose stools and flatulence if you take too much at once. Some believe that eating coconut oil before bedtime is best.
